Simmer Down Festivals are seeking an experienced researcher to lead a data capture campaign and economic impact study as part of our 2014 Festival programme. We are seeking to improve our understanding of the festivals impact and build stronger links with the festivals audience. Simmer Down is one of the fastest growing festivals in the UK with an anticipated audience of 10,000 in 2014. It is a unique, intercultural festival celebrating Birmingham’s cultural landscape with a programme including Reggae, Hip Hop, Bhangra, Qawwali, African, European, Kurdish music and Much more.
The festival is a fee event, held in Handsworth park, Birmingham 20th July 2014. The festival is delivered through a partnership between Simmer Down Festivals CIC and The Drum Arts Centre. The data capture campaign will gather audience data that will enable us to communicate with our audience more directly and shape programmes that attract ‘hard to reach’ audiences, supporting the wider programme of arts activity in the city.
The Economic impact study will help us track the investment the festival brings to the local economy. The data capture researcher will oversee pre event online surveys and incentives, on site surveys, gather information from stall holders, local business, audience etc. This will be collated into an audience database and economic impact study.
We would like the researcher to use the EVENTimpact methodology to enable us to share the findings with our funders. This role will be assisted by our Marketing department and festival staff/volunteers.
The role will be commissioned on a freelance basis with an inclusive fee of £1500. A budget for resources will be provided.
